Mauritius is an island nation off the coast of the African continent in the southwest Indian Ocean, about 900 kilometres (560 mi) east of Madagascar. In addition to the island of Mauritius, the Republic includes the islands of St. Brandon, Rodrigues and the Agalega Islands. Mauritius is part of the Mascarene Islands, with the French island of Réunion 200 km (125 mi) to the southwest and the island of Rodrigues 570 km to the northeast. It has many beautiful white sandy beaches offering numerous options to the sun loving tourists and travellers.

	Maldives Islands is an archipelago comprising 1,190 low-lying coral islands scattered across the equator, in groups of 26 naturally occurring atolls which are divided into 20 for administrative purposes. The atolls of Maldives are in fact part of a greater structure known as the Laccadives-Chagos Ridge, which stretches over 2000 kilometres. The islands of Maldives are very low lying with the highest point at approximately 8 feet above sea level. 'Faru' or ring-shaped reef structures form the atolls and these provide natural defense against wind and wave action, on the delicate Maldives islands.

Seychelles' 115 islands fall under two distinct groups. The tall granite, Inner Islands cluster mainly within the relatively shallow Seychelles' plateau, 4° south of the equator and roughly 1800 km. distant from the east coast of Africa while the low-lying coralline cays, atolls and reef islands of the Outer Islands lie mainly beyond the plateau up to 10° south of the equator.

	Sri Lanka is a small Island Country off the South East coast of India in the Indian Ocean. It was used to be called as Ceylon before becoming a republic. 	Lovely Lakshadweep, located just off the coast of Kerala in India, comprises of 36 charming coral islands amidst Arabian sea. Only ten islands are inhabited by simple, peace - loving folk whose mainstay is cocount cultivation, coir matting and fishing. Lakshadweep is emerging as an important tourist destination of the country and is regarded as a "Paradise" for water sports like, Snorkelling, scuba diving, Deep sea fishing, Kayaking and wind surfing etc. Only 4 islands Kalpeni, Kavaratti, Minicoy and Kadamat are open for domestic tourists, while Bangaram and Kadamat islands are open for foreign tourists. Permits to visit Lakshadweep can be obtained from the Lakshadweep tourist Office in Kochi. Regular flights operate from operate from Kochi to Agatti island. Moderately priced ship cruises which stop at all the islands open to tourism are also available from Kochi between October to March every year.
